‘This House believes data and tech companies are a threat to our democracy, our way of life and our very existence’
This week, year 12 economists from five of the region’s schools – Emmanuel College, The Kings Academy, Grace College, Harton Academy and St Bede’s Durham – gathered at Brewin Dolphin’s HQ to debate their hopes and fears for the region’s growing technology sector. A crack team of judges from Dynamo Northeast, NIBE, Brewin Dolphin, and ProxiSmart, assembled to scrutinise the students’ arguments. Even seasoned campaigners don’t find it easy to stand up in front of an audience of strangers and speak confidently let alone with a degree of eloquence. The student participants were more than a credit to their schools. Well done to all! Thank you Brewin Dolphin for not only hosting but also sponsoring the event.
