Bridging the Gap

In July, Sophie Rowland (11 Ingham) and Manesha Sundar (11 Oliver) won globalbridge’s Future Stars competition, where they had to pitch their idea for a social enterprise to a panel of judges, Dragon’s Den style!  Last Friday, Sam McLoughlin, Education Consultant at globalbridge, returned to college, accompanied by three industry experts, who will advise and guide Manesha and Sophie as they begin to rollout their business plan.  In advance of the meeting, both girls had to complete a PRISM Inventory, a behavioural profiling tool.  It was fascinating to listen to Lindi Teate, Corporate Services Director at the NBS, talk through the PRISM reports.  She knew so much about the girls’ strengths and weaknesses, yet this was the first time they had met.  Nicola Leyden, Director of HR at Muckle LLP, facilitated the second half of the afternoon’s discussion using Edward de Bono’s Six Hats for Parallel Thinking.  Frank Barreca, University Partnerships Manager at Peer Tutor, was on hand all afternoon to advise on potential pitfalls, and that’s a clue as to the nature of the girls’ business plan; however, they will share more details in due course.  A huge thank you to the mentors and we look forward to hearing more from Manesha and Sophie in the coming months.
